How do you develop rhythm in a book?
This 78 page book has been the most extensive yet most detail oriented project I have done. The book consists of photography and text sourced from The New York Times, covering global events that occured every month of 2020.
The aim was to design in a way that is rhythmic but not monotonous: clearly identifying chapter openers, breaking up content with varying image sizes, creating caption hierarchy, tastefully using white space, adding full bleed images, pulling out quotes to highlight text, and more. Everything is designed on a master grid, so even varying compositions will flow together well.
Designing the perfect book with the right balance of each element is an art.
